Trip to Charleston

On Saturday, the kids, Mom, Dad and I rode the Amtrak train to Charleston. I have always wanted to take the kids on a train ride. I went to Charleston with my class in the 5th grade and remember it so well. Since Brant lives in Charleston, we thought it would be fun to go there for the day on the train. It was also the weekend of the Southeastern Wildlife Expo in Charleston. We boarded the train and left at 8:20 in the morning.

The kids had a great train ride and ate breakfast on the train. Blake and Bryson thought it was really cool that they could walk around while the train was moving. We got to Charleston at 10:00 and Brant picked us up. We went back to his house and then to Fleet Landing for lunch. The food was delicious, especially the crab chowder!! We went to Marion Park to see the animals. The weather was rainy and cold and miserable. We were there long enough to see the animals at the petting zoo and the snakes.

Can you believe that my little "girly girl" Bryson LOVED the snakes??? She definitely does not take after her Mom!!

We ate Japanese for dinner and 6 very tired people got back on the train and arrived back in Savannah at 9:00 that night!!!
