Brett's Hearing Aids

As most of you know, Brett was diagnosed with Congenital Bilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss. Fortunately, his case is mild. Even though it is mild, it is bad enough to cause him to be delayed in his speech which could cause other delays as well. In order to prevent these problems, he needs hearing aids in both ears. We don't know if these will be temporary or permanent. He got his hearing aids this past Monday and has done great!! He seems to be more alert and vocal so maybe he is hearing a lot more than we originally thought! Hopefully, he will only have to wear them until he develops a strong language base. He will continue to have the sedated ABR test every 6 months to see if his hearing is improving or getting worse. On Monday, the hearing impaired speech therapist will evaluate him for speech. It should be interesting to see how they evaluate speech in a 6 month old!! The hearing aids are very small and he is still as cute as ever and a charmer!! What do you think??
