Blake update
Over Spring Break, Blake and I went to Atlanta for a recheck and to have his cast removed. Dr, Fab was very pleased with his progress and took the cast off. Because Blake's leg had been immobilized for 6 weeks, he was unable to walk on it when the cast came off. We did not expect this and it scared both of us. Dr. Fab explained that Blake's brain thought that the muscles had died. The muscles had atrophied so it took several days for Blake to build up the strength in that leg so that he could put pressure on it and not fall down. It was very painful for him. Dr. Shores was pleased with how well Blake was tolerating the antibiotics and we will return in 2 months for another checkup. Blake is very thankful to have the cast off so that he can swim and enjoy his summer!
