Good News!

Most of you who read this blog know that my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.  He has been suffering from the symptoms of the disease for about 5 years now- since he was 59.  We have had numerous tests and procedures done to hopefully improve his memory, none of which have worked.  He is being followed by Dr. Lah at Emory University who is one of the top experts in this field.

Today we found out that Dad was accepted into a clinical trial by Merck to test the vaccine V950 to be used as a treatment for Alzheimer's!  It is a double blind study so there is a chance that Dad could receive the placebo.  The study consists of 120 volunteers, 12 of which were chosen from Emory.  We feel fortunate that Dad was one of the ones chosen.  We are praying that he will receive the actual drug and we will be able to see some benefits.  We will be traveling to Emory on July 13th for the initial visit on the 14th.  Dad will go every month for the vaccine for 18 months.  Please pray that we will be able to see some positive effects from the cruel, evil disease.
