Eat More Chicken

It was very last minute, but these kids will do anything for free food!  It was Cow Appreciation Day.  If you dressed up as a cow, you got a free meal.  We decorated these paper plates and ate for free!

Mom's eye surgery

Mom has been having lots of eye problems lately.  She had cataract surgery on one eye and had some complications so she has not had the other eye done.  During these visits, they found that her vision was very compromised due to her eyelids drooping and that surgery to lift her eyelids was a must.  This surgery was well planned out so that I would be on summer break and could help.  Monday, June 30 was the date.  I took a "before" picture so that we could compare.....
On Saturday before the surgery, Rick had severe pain in his eye.....his story is coming up, but on the day of surgery I took Mom in on the 3rd floor of GA Eye Institure and as soon as they called me back to get her, they called Rick in to a room on the 1st floor.  I asked if I could just take mom down with me, but they said they would keep her in a "holding area" until I was finished.  When I got back, this is how she looked......

She felt great, no problems.  I was going to spend the night with her, but because she was doing so well and I was so frazzled!!!!!  she told me to go home for the night.  I felt really good about it until 6:00 Tuesday morning when she called me and told me that it was oozing.  I headed straight over and this is how she looked....
Of course, all of this was normal, but she did not remember what the nurses said because she was under the influence at the time.  Day 3......

This was also the day of Rick's surgery (in another post), so I had to take a picture of both of the patients....who would have ever thought?????

Day 4.....
Day 5....
Looking better every day....

Catching up.....again....Critter Day 2

Today was Farm Animal Day.  Blake wanted to check out the place so we went and offered to help.  I am not sure how much of a help we were, but we stayed the whole time and had a blast!  We could smell ourselves by the end of the night!

The kids started off learning all about eggs.

They had an egg throw to see which eggs were the hardest.
Then they learned how to rope animals.
And the poor animals were let loose......
Brett quickly roped a goat....actually, he grabbed it and put the rope around his neck.
But it looked good and he was sure proud of himself!
Blake found this animal.  I can remember its name but he was a wooly thing!
You would think Brett was a real life cowboy!

Blake had to help herd the animals back to the pen.
Meet Marty the Llama....I must admit....he is my favorite!  He had soo much personality and is rotten!

Marty was a little bit tempermental....Bryson was talking to him and he spit in her face.  I am not sure how I got these pictures at just the right moment, but they are priceless!

Look at the dirt from the spit on her face!

They also had a greased pig contest.  This poor little pig was greased down with Vaseline and then let loose in the pen for the teams to chase, catch and put him back in his gate.

It was very comical!  Bryson was relentless and caught the pig every time.  Blake got him several times and Brett gave him a good run!

Bryson was absolutely disgusting after the pig race!
They tried to put together a chicken coop....
but there were too many distractions and the coop did not happen!

Bryson was just thrilled when the horses came out and she took charge and made a best friend in no time!

Day 2 ended with a contest to see who could find 10 Skittles or M&M's first in the whipped cream with their hands behind their back!

Day 2 was a HUGE success!  I did not get any pictures of Day 3- Exotic Animal Day, but they saw the hedgehogs, prairie dogs, chinchillas and other things.  They want to go back to Critter Camp in 3 weeks.....I think they will!
